“Change has to be delivered through people, or it won’t work. So my team helps clients to look at and address the very specific behavioural changes that their people need to make to be able to adopt and sustain new ways of working.”
Anne Griffiths,
Director, People-Centred Change

ANNE GRIFFITHS BOOSTING STOCK AVAILABILITY IN A MAJOR RETAILER

One of the things that Anne enjoys about the People Centred Change approach at Newton is the fact that we don’t talk with our clients about broad cultural aspirations like “be more customer focused”. Instead, we’re helping them make the specific adjustments to the way they work that delivers a targeted outcome. For one client, it meant driving better product availability in stores nationwide. At Newton, we’re all about making a tangible difference.

FOCUS ON DELIVERY

When we’re delivering a project, we look at the challenges from every angle. Although the core change is often centred around new processes or technologies, we have a strong focus on people and behavioural aspect. After all, if an organisation’s people don’t change the way the work, the change won’t happen.

Anne

“We’re every bit as rigorous about understanding the people and behavioural element of change as we are about picking apart the processes and technology aspect of it. Which means we’re delivering a well-rounded solution rather than just skimming the surface.”

– Anne

BALANCING WORK AND HOME

At Newton, we’ve been having lots of conversations about how to make sure people get the downtime they need to be able to perform at their best and enjoy their job.

Anne

“We encourage each other to get the space to do the other things in life important to them.”

– Anne

POWERING YOUR PROGRESSION

Anne says our collaborative way of working underpins her team’s ongoing development as well as her own.

Anne

“Bringing in specialists from outside of Newton means we’re creating a melting pot of ideas and experience in the People Centred Change team where everyone can help shape the direction we’re going in, and can lead on initiatives crucial to our long term growth.”

– Anne

SUPPORTING CLIENTS SIDE BY SIDE

Because Newton guarantees results, it’s vital for all consultants to be immersed in our client’s organisations. By seeing their challenges and opportunities up-close, our communications and people & change consultants can create practical solutions that will help those organisations move forward with confidence.

Anne

“Our ‘people & change’ consultants have to think about what behavioural change really looks like on the ground on a day-to-day level for different people, different teams and different leaders.”

– Anne

EXPERIENCE LIFE ON CLIENT SITE

Observing an organisation from afar can help add perspective. But for Anne, the real insight comes when she’s out on site working alongside her clients – not only the senior leaders, but also the people who’ll need to live and breathe the change in their daily working lives.

Anne

“When we’re on site, we get to understand what an organisation’s people experience. That kind of exposure is invaluable when it comes to working out the best way to effect behavioural change.”

SHARING EXPERIENCES WITH THE WHOLE COMPANY

Whatever your interests and passions, Newton offers plenty of opportunities for colleagues to work together and make an impact beyond their immediate client projects, whether that’s through knowledge sharing, all-company initiatives or advancing a cause that has a personal significance.

Review days

Our fortnightly review days are a brilliant opportunity not only for our people to connect with each other, but also to share ideas, bring fresh perspectives and collectively tackle the most complex challenges in an open, relaxed environment.

Inclusion and giving back

We have a number of employee resource groups designed to foster a diverse, inclusive working environment. There are also great opportunities to give back through the Newton Foundation – our people have been involved in everything from fundraising efforts for Alzheimer’s to mentoring students from underprivileged backgrounds to supporting programmes to tackle homelessness in the UK.

Anne

“Newton isn’t just a collaborative organisation. It’s also a really sociable place to work. We get together regularly and that helps to create a really strong sense of identity and camaraderie.”
